The Pajama Game at the Arena Stage

October 27 - December 24, 2017 at the Arena Stage on Sixth St, Washington DC

The Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory is a tiptop model of efficiency — so why are things getting so steamy? It could have something to do with how hard new superintendent Sid Sorokin has fallen for Babe Williams, the trouble-making head of the union grievance committee. Sparks really start to fly when a workers’ strike pits management against labor and ignites an outrageous battle of the sexes. Packed with seductive dance numbers like “Steam Heat” and “Hernando’s Hideaway,” the best way to ensure a good night’s rest during the hectic holiday season is to play The Pajama Game!

Ghosts and Gargoyles: Haunted and Holiday Secrets of the Washington National Cathedral Tour

It's the holiday season at the city's most popular cathdral. But, there is a lot more to this cathedral than you know.

The Washington National Cathedral is one of Washington’s most magnificent and stunning structures. Although the foundation stone was laid in 1907, it was not until September 29, 1990, exactly 83 years after ground was broken, that the final stone was set in place. This walk tells the story of one 20th-century Greek-born sculptor and artist, Constantine Seferlis, who devoted nearly 20 years to carving the stone that brought the National Cathedral to life.

Led by Seferlis’ son, Clift, a stone carver in his own right, you will walk the beautiful grounds and hear of the cathedral’s history as only someone who knows the building intimately can tell it. In addition to an exciting general history of the Cathedral, Clift will tell us of the many mysteries of the gargoyles and unknown spooky stories of the cathedral that are unknown the most D.C. residents. You may never look at this landmark the same way again.

The Chieftains’ name has been synonymous with the finest Irish music for over 55 years. Formed in 1962 and led by founding member Paddy Moloney, the band has spread Ireland’s indigenous sounds and styles across the globe. With an ability to transcend musical boundaries and blend tradition with modern music, it has been hailed as one of the most renowned and revered musical groups to this day. With decades of experience under their belt, The Chieftains’ members and their music remain just as fresh and relevant as when they first began.

  • The Chieftains are the first Western musicians to perform on the Great Wall of China.
  • Paddy Moloney’s whistle and bandmate Matt Molloy’s flute traveled with NASA astronaut Cady Colemen to the international space station.
